Samhain
The Celtic Samhain festival on the night of October 31st to November 1st is an important point in the annual cycle and is still of great importance today.
Samhain is the beginning of the dark season. Now Mother Earth goes back to rest, nature retreats to gather new strength. Plants draw their strength down into the roots and seem to die on the surface.
Samhain is about death. But not in the sense of a final end, but rather in the sense of an eternal cycle that always brings forth new life from death. Nothing is really dead, death is always a transition, a transformation.
Letting go of the old
Samhain is therefore a good time to let go of the old, rethink concepts that are no longer useful and make room for the new.
At Samhain, we also draw our strength back into our roots and thus plant the seed for all that may grow from us and through us.
Gratitude
But Samhain is also a festival of gratitude. Gratitude for the harvest that the bright half of the year has brought us. For everything that has grown and flourished.
Our family of origin
Samhain is the festival of the deceased, the ancestors. Because they are our roots, from them we have emerged.
This is also an eternal cycle.
Our deceased ancestors are not gone, they have crossed over to the other side and returned to the spiritual plane. But they are still accessible to us, especially at Samhain.
Such transitions were and are of great importance to us humans; the journey to the other world is particularly easy for us at this time.
